Perhaps COVID-19 is a Stress Test

Perhaps COVID-19 is a stress test. I believe we are being tested in many ways, and challenged to rise to the test…Our health…we worry about this virus, about parents, children, grandchildren and anyone close to us getting sick.

Our financials…people are not working, not making money needed for mortgages, rent, utilities, and even food.

Our communities…restaurants are closing and some for good. Businesses are in trouble. Hospitals are, in many cases, empty, not doing the care that pays the bills for the services that they provide. Grocery stores are seeing shortages, while farmers can’t move the products that they do have. Our communities are stressed, some devolving into street protests, ugly signage, violence, and much blaming, division and polarization.

Our families…We live in a society where families are not together… often spread over several states. Travel difficulties and stay-at-home orders keep us apart during this time of stress.

Perhaps the biggest test is how this is affecting our individual spirit. We have choices…we can choose to be depressed anxious, and cynical. Or we can choose to trust in human resilience, creativity, courage and adaptability. It is a choice…choose wisely!
